This time last week, the members of the Riveting Region 1 convened in Downtown Philadelphia to initiate two new brothers: Malcolm Richardson and Naasir Smith.
Malcolm Richardson is a native of Newark, NJ, who graduated from Lincoln University of PA in 2014 with a BA in Music Vocal Performance. After graduating, he served as a Teacher of Vocal Music for Musika Music. Since 2015, Malcolm has served in the Special Education Department at Great Oaks Charter School in Wilmington, Delaware, where he also teaches music. In the process of earning his Masters in Music from Liberty University, Malcolm Richardson serves as the Director of Musical Affairs at GOWIL.
Naasir Smith was born and raised in North Philadelphia. Known by most as Sir Smith, Naasir is a spoken word artist who discusses his experiences being a Black, Muslim, and Gay man. Naasir joined Beta Gamma Chi because of the brotherhood amongst gay and bisexual men. He also wanted to serve within his community but didn’t know what steps to take until he was introduced to Beta. He would like to have an impact on the LGBTQ+ community by spreading love and giving back as much as he can.
We are honored to welcome two amazingly talented, passionate, and hard-working individuals into the brotherhood! We are looking forward to all that these two members will accomplish next.
