Holiday Food Drive
Our Annual Holiday Food Drive has been an opportunity for our members to engage in philanthropy with community members in support of homeless LGBTQ youth. Over the years we have realized that our philanthropic efforts reach far beyond our queer community. In fact, 40 million Americans are food insecure, and 1 in 6 children face hunger each day. Because we know that one box of non-perishable items can provide 25 meals, we believe it is a duty each holiday season to contribute.
In the past, we have worked alongside Omicron Psi Omega, Incorporated to organize a holiday food drive that has benefited the youth of the Pride Center in Philadelphia. In 2019, we engaged with families across Philadelphia and school communities to collect 1,363 non-perishable items for Home for Hope (PA), Philabundance (PA), and the Youth Empowered Society (MD).
This year, our members in Dallas, Atlanta, and New York City will use the donations we collect to purchase non-perishable food items and drop them off at local shelters that provide housing for LGBTQ+ youth. Food items will be donated to New Alternatives in New York City, Lost-N-Found Youth Center in Atlanta, and Dallas Hope Center in Dallas, Texas.
Join us in being a part of the change and donate what you can today. No contribution is too small.
